The Notorious B.I.G.

As a fan of old school rap, there are still things we can learn about our favorite rappers of all time. This time we are looking at some facts about Christopher Wallace Aka Biggie Smalls AKA Notorious B.I.G.. He was born on May 21st, 1972, in Brooklyn (NY). Most of us already know he became a drug dealer at a young age but his own mother claimed that Biggie was a straight A student before he got enrolled in the street game. " Big Popa's " is the name he wanted to use for a restaurant he wanted to open in Brooklyn that would sale soul food and if you can relate to some of his songs he says " I love it when you call me Big Po-pa". His nickname " Biggie Smalls" came from a 1975 movie called “Let’s Do It Again.” In the movie one of the main character is a gangster group leader and everyone use to call his Biggie Smalls. After using Biggie Smalls, he got sued by the company Lockhart thus changed his name to Notorious B.I.G..

While recording "Ready to die", Biggie got into a car accident that shattered his left leg, that's why he always used a cane. Another great fact is that Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and Biggie attended the same school in brooklyn and all became great rappers in the industry. Until now, there's a foundation under the name of Chritopher Wallace which holds a black-tie event, once a year, to raise money for school equipment and supplies for children who are less fortunate in the memory of the great rapper.
